Breaking down the 7 myths of Bitcoin #7
Bitcoin is for criminals
The very foundation of the idea is based on the false premise that Bitcoin is less than the dollar, when in fact it is greater than any form of money that has ever existed before, mainly in terms of its fixed supply.
No doubt, Bitcoin is definitely used by the tastes of drug dealers and the nefarious characters of the dark web.
However, it would be irrational to believe that this is its main use, or to believe that Bitcoin should be banned because of it.
It is inconsistent to think that Bitcoin is functional enough to be viable as a currency for criminal use only, and denies that it is functional for everyone.
Bitcoin is a medium, and what criminals do is their crime, not Bitcoin’s.
Using the mail to send a letter to mom is not a crime, but using the mail to send drugs is a postal fraud.
Similarly, using the dollar to buy flowers for mom is perfectly fine, but narcotics with dollars is a crime.
Despite the criminal use, no one is calling for a ban on roads, the internet, mail, or dollars, which happens to be the preferred global trade currency of criminals.
It would be killing the messenger to say that its use is exclusively for criminals.
Bitcoin is not criminal.
